Playing in front of people can be scary. However, to those who enjoy performing, it can be an amazing time! So, we do something a little different.
Each year, some music students want to learn classic Christmas songs on their piano, guitar, bass and drums. Everyone loves songs like We Wish You a Merry Christmas, Little Drummer Boy and Jingle Bells. Starting in October or November, they spend a few weeks working on them and they're ready to play them in December. Everyone plays rhythm and original lead parts are given to more advanced students.
Over the past few years, we've played Christmas songs for the residents at the Sunrise Convalescent Home in La Jolla. Some of my students and I sing and play a variety of instruments for about an hour on a convenient Saturday morning in December. The residents are always friendly and thankful for our music.
Do you want to play somewhere else? No problem. We can discuss it and arrange it. Whether your goal is the big stage or the little stage, gigs like these in front of live audiences are great for building confidence, enhancing your craft and having fun.
Everyone who plays guitar needs a chord chart. Learn about 10 chords, then you can play hundreds of songs! Use our free chord chart and learn how to finger the most common chords and hundreds of others.
