This numerical system has proven to be an excellent way to play original music with your band or along with your favorite songs for practice and for fun. This improvising book features a labeled fret board, so you can learn the names of all of the notes, but it won't be required to use the system. It also teaches you the 12 different major keys and the notes in them. By using those two tools, I've developed 12 key pages and each page has a different set of fret numbers for every string and every fret on the guitar or bass guitar. Discover the key of a song and instantly play solos in that key by number, like a tab! Write a song in any key, then you automatically have a key page with all of the note options, so you can write licks, hooks, solos and bridges. It's a fun tool and less restrictive than scales!
